Las Terrazas, Soroa and Viñales with overnight in Viñales

Excursion of two days and one night to these 3 exceptional places of the Cuban nature declared by UNESCO as World Nature heritage.

Day # 1: Visits Las Terrazas and Soroa.

Day # 2: Sightseeing in Viñales.

DAY 1 PROGRAM: VISITS LAS TERRAZAS AND SOROA

a) Departure at 8:00 AM.

b) Visit Las Terrazas Community and Hotel La Moca, both settled in perfect harmony with nature. Las Terrazas is a rural community of sustainable development located in Sierra del Rosario, World Biosphere Reserve. This is one of the most beautiful places of nature in Cuba. This beautiful community has a great deal of cultural life. You will enjoy and buy if you wish painting, serigraph, ceramic and woodwork in the few workshops of the locality.

c) Visit the small Museum of the famous local musician Polo Montañés.

d) Visit the workshops of the local painter Lester Campa.

e) Lunch next to the San Juan River in Las Terrazas.

f) Arrival to Soroa around 1:30 PM. Soroa is located in Sierra del Rosario some 70 km to the west of Havana. This area, for its many natural attractions, has been recognized by UNESCO as Biosphere Reserve. The variety of birds and the wonderful view of the landscape make of this site an ideal one for photography lovers. This is the perfect place for enjoying a day in direct contact with the natural world.

g) Visit the Orchid nursery Soroa botanical garden with more than 25 000 orchid species from different parts of the world, including around 100 Cuban species. The garden also has 6 000 species of other ornamental plants, trees, and flowers that represent the national flora of several countries. The orchid nursery garden was founded in 1943 by a rich Spanish lawyer to honors his daughter. The beautiful house of the family (currently a museum), still keeps its original furniture and decoration.

h)  Visit the viewpoint of Soroa. You will be able to enjoy a lovely view of the Sierra del Rosario.

i) Walk and bath time in the Soroa Waterfall. This waterfall, with around 22 meters, is known as the Cuban Rainbow. You can enjoy a refreshing bath in the natural pond down the waterfall.

j) Departure to Viñales around 4:30-5:00 PM.

k)  Check in at a casa particular in Viñales. We assure a good accommodation (we will send pictures of it).

l) Dinner at the casa particular (not included in the price of the tour).

DAY 2 PROGRAM: SIGHTSEEING IN VIÑALES

The Viñales Valley is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Cuba. Its characteristics mogotes (small top-rounded conic hills), the great variety of flora and fauna, the preservation of the traditions of its people and sites of historical meaning assured the declaration by UNESCO as World Heritage of the valley and the small town of Viñales. Besides the lovely views of landscapes; visitors will enjoy the visit to caves, cigar's plantations, crop fields and farmer's huts.

a) Breakfast in the casa particular (not included in the price of the tour).

b) Visit to the viewpoint of Hotel Los Jasmines. The best point to enjoy the beauty of the valley and take pictures of it.

c) Visit to Cueva del Indio. (Cave of the Indian). After a walk of several hundred meters into the cave, the visitors make a boat travel along the subterranean waters. During the crossing you will see stalactites with the most curios forms; there is a champagne bottle a head of a crocodile and a silhouette of an aborigine smoking a pipe.

d) Visit to Palenque del Cimarrón. Palenque was the name given to the hiding places of the fugitive African slaves. This place is reproduction of a palenque inside a mogote.

e) Visit Valle de La Prehistoria. The Cuban artist Leovigildo Casanova made this extraordinary drawing on a hillside of eighty meters high and 120 meters long mogote. The drawing represents an artist's testimony of the earth's bio-geologic evolution.

f) Lunch in a typical house of the town (not included in the price of the excursion).

g) Visit to a tobacco plantation (depending the season of the year OCTOBER-APRIL)

h) Return to Havana.
